The Adelaide Perry Gallery warmly invites you to the 2026 Exhibition of Finalists.

About The Prize

The Perry Prize is a $25 000 acquisitive award recognising excellence in contemporary drawing.

A $2 000 People’s Choice Award (non-acquisitive) will also be awarded.

Entries must be original drawings completed between 14 January 2025 and 14 January 2026.

Finalists will be selected for exhibition at the Adelaide Perry Gallery.

Judge Announced

We’re delighted to announce that this year’s judge is Scott Elliot, Assistant Curator Australian Art at Art Gallery of NSW.

Scott is a visual arts curator, writer and editor with extensive experience leading exhibition and publication projects, and brings a thoughtful, expert eye to this year’s prize.

How to Enter

  • Complete the online entry form
  • Upload a recent CV or artist biography
  • Pay the $50 non-refundable entry fee (per work)

    For long titles, please use an abbreviated version.

  1. The Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing (People’s Choice) for 2026 is $2,000 (non-acquisitive).
  2. Entrants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents in Australia.
  3. Works entered must have been completed within a period of 12 months prior to 14 January 2026.
  4. Each artist may submit a maximum of TWO entries. Entries must be accompanied by a $50 fee, per entry, to be eligible.
  5. THE UNFRAMED SIZE OF EACH WORK MUST NOT EXCEED 15,000 SQUARE CENTIMETRES (eg, 1.5m² = 1m x 1.5m). Three-dimensional entries are eligible, to a maximum of one cubic metre. Animated and moving image works are eligible (maximum duration 5 minutes) - file share needs to be arranged by contacting the Gallery directly at adelaideperrygallery@plc.nsw.edu.au
  6. All submissions should be considerate of the school context and subject matter deemed appropriate for an audience aged 4+ years.
  7. Entrants must lodge their entry online and pay the entry fee electronically, via the Adelaide Perry Prize online form at: https://plc.sydney/2026perryprize Entry forms & a non-refundable $50.00 (GST inc.) handling fee, per entry must be received by 14 January, 2026.
  8. From the entries the judge will select approximately 40 finalists. The final drawings will be hung at Adelaide Perry Gallery from Friday 27 February to Friday 27 March 2026. These finalists will be notified in writing, in late January, 2026 of their selection, and delivery of these drawings, suitably framed for hanging and handling, must reach Adelaide Perry Gallery by Friday 13 February 2026.
  9. Though the gallery will exercise all care in handling finalists’ works, it will not be liable for costs incurred by the artist, should loss or damage occur while in its custody. Each competitor is responsible for acquiring his/her own insurance and freight to/from and during the exhibition.
  10. Finalists shall allow their works to be reproduced in print or electronic media to promote the Adelaide Perry Prize for Drawing.
  11. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.
  12. The Adelaide Perry Gallery receives 20% commission on all works sold at exhibition.
