Girls scoop the Sleek Geeks Awards

Sleek Geeks, Science Eureka Prize... the Australian Museum.

This Science night of nights was held on Wednesday 31 August at the Australian Museum. PLC Sydney finalists, Charlotte Lim and Zara Matta were awarded second and third place respectively in the Primary Eureka Sleek Geeks national competition. We are very proud of their Science work and achievements and thank Mrs Martin for her passion and leadership of Science and Technology in the Junior School.

Sleek Geeks is a national movie-making competition in which students make a 2-minute film that teaches the audience something scientific in an entertaining and engaging way. This year the theme was 'change'.

PLC Sydney Junior School students entered 15 films. Of those 15, we are absolutely thrilled to announce that we were awarded five awards out of the possible ten available in all of Australia. Finalists Charlotte Lim (Year 5) and Zara Matta (Year 6) came second or third in this national competition. Vrinda Kumar (Year 4), Cate Yuen (Year 4) and Charlotte Miller (Year 5) have been awarded Highly Commended.  This is an incredible achievement and I congratulate all involved including the students, families and teacher mentors at school - Mr Scott Gregory and Ms Anthea Daley.
